Hello,
My name is Jerry and I'm new to the forum and am hoping for some help diagnosing a problem I'm having with my power trim. I have 50 HP Yamaha 2-stroke with power tilt/trim on my Xpress duck boat. Last weekend, I noticed that the motor was not staying trimmed up and would slowly 'fall' downward. I've had solenoid problems with Mercury power trim systems but this seems to be a different issue and I'm sort of clueless in this department. It seems like it may be a loss of hydraulic pressure but I cannot detect a leak. I did notice that there is a small wire on the external front of the lower unit that came loose but I'm not sure if this is connected the trim. The trim control on my throttle as well as the button on the side of the motor function properly in both the up and down positions.
If anyone is familiar with what is causing the problem that I have described and can point me in the right direction for repairing this on my own I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jerry
