My 2001 175 hpdi has failed me at 425 hrs....hole in the block....no idea what happened....looking at a f150, but I'm hearing about a balancer problem that hasn't been addressed by Yamaha and is still an issue....is this true and what year motors have this been happening to....I'm not willing to put out another $15,000.00 for only 425 hrs.....anyone know of other manufacturer problems in the 150 hp. range or the best replacement for me...my boat is a Bayliner Trophy model 2002....thanks

Tessa before shelling out 15K I would see what the problem was with the HPDI. I think new powerheads are reasonablly priced from these guys. It may have been an oil delivery problem. Hole in the block cheez, I'd like to know how that happened.1999 Grady Sailfish SX225 OX66

The mechanic said that the piston had broke....the hole is about the size of your thumbnail on the side of the top right-hand cylinder, when looking from the rear of the motor.....he also said there may well be other damage from metal bits.....I didn't see the point in paying extra money to get a YDS download on the motor.....the bottom line from the dealer locally, was to purchase a complete powerhead for $10,000.00 plus labor costs to install...but the motor value in perfect condition is probably less than $4,000.00....hence the thought of a complete replacement with a fourstroke....would anyone know if the two props off this motor would fit a Yamaha F150....one is stainless and one is aluminum....both props are 15 1/4 x 15 M.

10K for a new powerhead installed seems over the top. I remember checking pricing on a 6-cyl OX66 and cost was less than 4K new from Yamaha. I believe that was from parts.net but can't swear to that. Don't know about those HPDI's though.1999 Grady Sailfish SX225 OX66
