  • Voltage power loss. Good use some help.

Hope everyone had a great summer.. I have a problem with my yamaha 2001 ox 66 250 I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. The problem started after surviving a south Florida down pour for 10 minutes traveling up the intercoastal, I lost complete electrical power once I arrive at the dock. Keep in mind this was 20 minutes after the storm has passed, and not while I was under way in a no wake zone. In loosing all electrical power, I was unable to start and raise the motor. I finally found the 30 AMP fuse on the starboard side of the engine that had blown, so I was back in business thereafter. Here's where the fun begins, that same fuse has blown three times since then at differnet times, but not while under way. So I started looking for a short, none found yet. However, as time went on the fuse issue settled down, however, I'm still running into power issues as I mentioned earlier. Only this time, I have found that if I discount all power to the 80 amp fuse, connected to the relay, I sometimes can regain power (I wonder if this is reseting the relay). I have since replaced my ignition switch after the storm as I guess some water traveled into the switch as I began to have poor starting response from the swtich after the storm. This past weekend I was out after the boat sat for a month, she ran fine for a while, when I noticed she was just not running the same @ 4000 rpm, with eratic rpm, and loss of power. I know what your thinking ...O2 sensor! only that would be more of a surge, rather than a a starving for fuel kind of sense. So I backed down and cruised back to the ramp. So I'm thinking bad gas or something. Only I began to lose battery power to my speedo, and my RPM gauge was reporting very odd rpm like 6600, and 5500, when I'm ony at half throttle. Very strange. So I'm thinking the batteries at this point. I get back to the dock, and all power is gone once again, but the batteryies are fine, radio is on, gps on, stereo is on, so battery are good. So, I go back to what I have learn previously, check the fuse AGAIN. 30 amp, checks out, 80 AMP appear to be fine, starter motor turns if I jump it. I swapped the 80 amp even through its not bad, and power is restored.. What could be causing the power to completing shutdown to the motor? Could it be the relay? this is getting frustrating..

Also the relay I speak about is the relay connected to the Power and trim motors. As the trim has no power when the above issue ocurrs.
