Multifunction Tach Alarms

I have a 6Y5-8350T-82-00 Multifunction Tach which was dealer installed when I purchased a new (2006)F150 to repower my 21' Lund. I have never seen the high temp or oil press alarm indicators light up and now I am concerned I may not have any working alarms. Everything else on the Tach and Speedo appears to work fine. Should these indicators light up when the ignition is switched on prior to starting, or do they just activate when the alarm condition is detected? Any help appreciated.

All segments of gauge should display momentarily when first turn key on then go to normal operation.
