  • Multifunction Tach not showing Trim

I have just installed a new multifunction Tach
    6Y5-83500-03-00 for my 1991 200 TXRP motor.
I have set all 3 dip switches to off.
I have replaced the trim sender with new one.
The tach works, but the trim is showing all bars black
    and top bar blinking.
Does this tach need to be set once installed in order to show trim?
    Or is something else wrong?
Is there an Owners Manual for this part?

    Thanks

Do you have an owners manual for this part?

The owners manual has the operation information on tach, go to www.yamaha-motor.com to read manual.

Does this Tach read trim angle out of the box,
or does it need to be set like the command link tach
by pressing mode and set buttons?

Hi, I have exact same problem.

            Bought new tach 6y5-83500-T2

            and new trim sender 6G5-83672-00

top bar flashing. and does not change when trim angle is changed..

Have you solved your problem? if yes how?

and yes i have set the tach for 3 wire, (but there is 4 wire in the sender.)?

Cable between tach and sender is checked, and is ok.

              My problem was solved.
I found out that if the top bar is flashing, it means
either a bad trim sender or a short in the wiring.
I changed the main engine harness and the trim angle
worked fine. It seems there was a short there.
