  • 2001 F115 4-Stroke Idle Problems

I am the original owner of this motor. It is in excllent condition and I have serviced it regularly. It starts and idles fine at the ramp. After running for a while to the first fishing spot, when I pull back to idle, it idles very rough and then cuts off. It will restart, but does the same thing over and over. It runs great at higher RPM's with no skips, etc. If we sit a while and the engine cools, it idles fine again, but once it heats up, it get's rough and cuts off. I have changed the plugs, the fuel-water seperator and fuel filter on the engine.
Any suggestions or possible diagnosis is appreciated.

Have the idle control valve checked may need to be cleaned or replaced.

      F115txra's

I keep having the same same problem, picture it.
I did all possible tests, (YDS) active -inactive , cleaned , replaced, with new
ISC, HP PUMP, FUEL INJECTORS FLOW/CLEANED ETC ETC.

JUST READ ONE ABOUT POSSIBLE TPS 'S GOING OLDIE (MY ENGINES HAVE 1350 OR SO HRS BOTH)

THERE IS ALSO A NOTE ABOUT MAP SENSORS ( ATM PRESSURE SENSOR IN ISC UNIT)

      ANY SUGGESTIONS?..

I chased this problem for a couple of years (intermittently) until it would occur too often
Didn't change as many parts as you did
My motor (2002) has a few hundred more hrs. than yours
Finally tracked it down to a failing TPS that was tested while the problem was occurring because the problem would last for a short while then return to normal

Hope this isn't frowned upon here but here is a reply that I had left on another forum
