  • need help 225 loss at wot

my 2000 225 v-max runs good on take off but drops rpms at wot. changed the fuel line, primmer bulb, plugs, filters, cleaned the filter inside the vst. from what i read on these threads maybe o2 sensor orinjector screens clogged.where is the o2 sensor located and what is an dvm.

It could be any of the things you mentioned as well as an ignition problem, the O2 sensor is on staboard side of number 1 cylinder. Need to check compression and have fuel pressure test run.

my rpm's this a.m. got to 5100 then cut back to 4700 and stays there. May fluctuate alittle but not much.If I back off on the throttle the motor will run fine its just when you go wot.All plugs look good I'm gonna try compression test next. anything else to try will be a welcome.

cleaned injector filters this a.m. not really bad but noticed small black flakes in container from fuel running out of fuel rail.Inspected the in and out fuel line for fuel rail and noticed the rubber was breaking down.Changed both fuel lines and going to run boat tomorrow.keep ideas comming and I'll post the results when i get them.

the rise in revs on turns will be the prop cavitation but normal i would be concerned about the black flakes may be you need to re do you vst and injectors being that you disturbed the rubber and it has re blocked them

could be but didn't seem to catch air from my hearing.the rubber hose that i changed was after vst and i didn't put the cleaned filters in untill after i changed the lines on the fuel rail. But at this point I'll take another look at them. trying to get my hands on a pressure tester to check fuel pressure at problem rpm's. i appreciate all the help I get from this sight.I know eventually the problem will get solved.

I didn't clean the injector i cleaned the filter that slides in the top of the injector. For that I simply washed the with warm water with the spray nozzle on the kitchen sink.I let them dry in the sun then took my blow tip for my compressor and blew on them gentlyto make sure there wasno moisture left on them.I could not see anything on the filter and know that they were clean. They really looked clean before I started maybe a couple bits of something but clean for the most part.

this is to update the problem i was having.I finally gave in and brought my boat to a mechanic and he figured the problem out.It turned out that my linkages for carb were out of sync. Also said the oil linkage was out of sync.my motor is back running 5500-5600 with no problems.Hope this can help someone else because it sure was throwing me off. Thanks for all the help guys, until next time see ya.
