  • Gasoline Question

Now I avoid using ethanol gas. The only gas station that sells
ethanol free gas is about 25 miles from my house. One of the
boats has a small 25 hp 2 stroke. I was using the little boat
towards the end of spring. So I went ahead & added the oil
& filled up a 5 gallon storage tank for later use. As it turns out,
I have not used the boat probably since end of May/early June.
I have a bay boat as well, and when I am going with someone
else I take the bay boat.

I know I should have added stabil, but I normally alternate & use
the boats every week, or every other. So its never been a real
issue. How long do you think this gas will be okay for use?

Again it is ethanol free gas with the oil mixture added in. I do use
some of it for my weedeater/blower, but that amounts to very little.

Maybe mix it in with your lawnmower gas, but get some fresh gas for your outboard motor and get in the habit of always using at least the minimum dosage of Stabil, because it's hard to always be sure when you'll use your boat again and time passes and fuel gets stale. Good Luck!

Not sure it would be a good idea to mix it with a 4 cycle lawnmower.

My question should have been what is the shelf life.

If the fuel isn't just turned to gunk, then you could mix it about half and half with plain old gas and run it in your mower, it won't hurt it other than some smoke. Or you can pour it on a fire ant or yellow jacket nest!

I have seen gas last 6 months and even longer without a problem, especially non-ethanol
