1988 150 stalling

I have a pair of 1988 yamaha 150. When I throttle up both mortors no problem but when I throttle up just the starboard motor it reaches 1000 rpm's than stalls. Almost sounds like it starving for gas. checked full lines dont seem to be a problem.I also had to adjust the shift cable linkage, the motor would grind as I put it in foward gear. Is there another adjustment I screwed up when I adjusted the shift cable linkage.

No the shift adjustment shouldn't cause it to stall, it sounds like a carb problem may need to be cleaned.
