    Hi
    Please help!!

Just picked up my first boat and despite being really carefull trailer ran down a slope on our land and crashed into some paddock fencing.(Would you believe it!!)
A chunk of the lower casing fin broke off as a result and the prop sustained a little damage
Can this fin be welded or am I looking at a $1000 / £8000 bill

    Many thanks

Mike, sorry to hear of your troubles. Yes, the skeg (the fin) can be welded, in fact it can be replaced it it breaks off completely. You want someone experienced in this repair, as they'll need to know how to work with the material, and careful with the heat. Two other alternatives:

    1) Just file down the rough edges and repaint - you may find it makes little difference to your performance and handling.
    2) Use a product called a Skeg Guard - a stainless steel cap which fits over the skeg.

Your prop can be repaired by a specialized shop, unless it's too bad.
