  • 1991 Yamaha150 tlrp water pump press.

    Hi guys,
Its been a long hot summer here in Arizona but its getting cooler.
I am having a problem with my 150 pro v. I replaced the water pump last April and ever since I have been going out on the lake my over heat horn sounds and my digital temp light flashes. At first I thought I was over trimming the motor but on my digital trim gauge I only trim on #3 on the bar graph. When I am idling and running everything is okay. Water press is 15 psi and no horn. As soon as I throttle up to about 3500-4000 rpm the horn goes off and the engine goes to idle. there is a good steady stream comming from the pee tube. One thing I do notice is my water pressure decreases as I throttle up from 15 psi to just about 5 psi. and then it overheats.
I went and just bought a new complete water pump kit (imp. housing ,wear plate and gaskets) to be installed this week.
    Anyone have any ideas ????
    Ray

Replacing entire water pump will probably solve it, check thermostats and pressure control valve.
