Hi,everbody.I have a 50 deo 1989 it is going into safety mode after 20 sec I have checked the thermo switch - OK - oil sensor - OK - checked as many earths as I can find - all OK - what else is left to check? This little fault is driving me mental!! If you can help - thank you! My engine is on an avon sea rider with the digital readouts on the dash. I have checked that as well - can't find anything.

You say that you checked the thermo switch - did you test it in a pan of heated water with a thermometer and ohm meter to see when the switch closed?
The switch is designed to close at approx 185 degrees. I have seen them close as soon as 130 degrees, giving a false overheat condition. You need to check for this possibility.

yep tested in water don't know what temperture was but it was near boiling point.Comment
