what is the function of the relief valve assembly on a F225TXRB

If asking about the water PRV, it is to relieve high water pressure during high RPMs

If this valve is bad would it cause the motor to sputter bog down and then stall when you give it full throttle. It runs great at slower speeds.

Yamaha's part #69J-244690-00-00 Relief Valve Assembly is quite accessable on my motor if we are talking about the same thing. But would it be the cause of my problem if it were bad? Thanks Terry
