I have a 1997 Yamaha Saltwater Series 225 hp outboard with multifunction gauges (tach, et al and Speed, et al). Today, the Speed gauge, which also contains the fuel gauge, trip, time and battery functions went dark. If one looks closely, one can make out darker areas which are obviously numbers, bars, etc,. so the gauge is getting power, but the display is almost impossible to read. The only thing that is somewhat important is the fuel gauge, though I have learned not to rely too much on even it. The GPS displays the speed, trip, etc. Any thoughts as to what may be the problem? It is almost as if the light is on and the bright sunlight makes it impossible to read the gauge, but this is merely a guess. Thanks.
