  • Idles great..but wont accelerate-Fuel System Is CLEAN

I had this problem where the motor (70Hp 2 Stroke) ran fine at an idle, but when I used the cold start lever or put it in gear and reved up, the RPM's would not increase enough to get the boat out the water. I went through all the fuel system and it has all been cleaned out (more that once) lol. My Uncle (after messing with it for a while) gave me the engine because it was no good. I did alot of research on the Pulsar Coils thinking it was an ingnition problem having trouble advancing the timing. Before I pulled the fly wheel i wanted to make sure i had compression, and test my 2 sensors (thermoswitch and Oil lvl sensor).....well i cut the oil lvl sensor (both sensors are normally open) and WALLA!!!!!!!!!! My engine runs like a clock....thank you forum members for the Idea of checking the sensors...I used about 5 different threads to find all this info so here it is in one......

Both the Heat sensor and the Oil lvl sensor have a mechanism connected to the CDI i think, that does not let the engine go over a certain amount of RPM. My Oil sensor was bad.....simple fix.

    Hope this helps someone!
