  • 03 115 CDI issue?

I have a 01 yamaha 115 2 stroke that was not making full power. I checked the spark, and cylinders 2 & 4 were not fireing. Put in new plugs and problem persisted. Switched the port, and STBD ignition coils around and the problem stayed with cylinders 2 & 4. I think it is in the CDI. I am looking for a way to test the CDI (don't have a good one to switch it out with) to make sure it's the problem before i spend $500. Could it be the stator coils? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Could be charge coils, pulsor coils or CDI unit, probably pulsor coil.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to test the pulsor coil?

Can run voltage output test with peak reading voltmeter and resistance test.

          digital?

Can I do that with a DVA and a digital voltmeter?...and If I can't, how much money should I spend on an analog meter...

          Thanks,
