yamaha 200 v6 special

hello
i just bought a yamaha 200 mid 80's when i tried to find what year it was built, i could read on the id plate: yamaha special.
according to my searches i can only find these "special"
in 1985 and 1986.
can anybody confirm that?
what make these engines "specials" everything look like any other .

The "Special" came out in 1985 and while it didn't have a published HP it was actually 220HP+. The biggest thing that made it a "Special" was that it was the first motor to have computerized control of the ignition. Here is a link to an ad for it:

Later models became the Excel and were rated at 225HP.

I have one and it runs great but keep in mind that the required fuel octane is 91.

Only other downside is they have plain steel shift rods and steering arms that can rust out. DAGS
