  • Electric problem

    Hi everyone!
    New to the forum.
    I face a serious problem with my Yamaha 2000, 70hp, 2 stroke.
It cannot run up to 2000rpm. We have checked everything last 2 months but nothing.
After checking once again yesterday with the machanic we finally concluded that the problem is with CDI.
Does anyone know whether this part is repairable?
    Any info would be great.

    Thanks,

    George

I'm not aware of any place that repairs them.

      hmmmm

I am having the same problem with a 70Hp engine. It idles great!..but when I put it in the water it doesn't get enough RPM to get up on a slide. The Carbs and everything else that is fuel related has been triple checked. I was reading some other posts and found that suggestions of the stator/ignition/CDI would be the next step. I am still in the process of trying to identify the year of my engine among other things, but please let me know how you fixed the problem. If you dont, I will start another thread with the progress of my troubleshooting sooner or later...

      Thanks,
      Banjo

i just bought a used stator and cdi box off ebay

put it in and it works good now

cost 100$ used---this stuff is expensive new

if anyone is having this same trouble go to ebay and buy a dva adapter for 35$ and a analog multimeter for 500vdc. to troubleshoot

or just buy the stator assbly and cdi box--thats almost the whole ignition system.

cdi or stator assembly is the answer to this--not fuel.

type in the part# in search.

or type 70 yamaha stator or 70 yamaha cdi

        i got them for 100$ used---think there 590$ new

Well two other things to do before that.... My problem ended up being a faulty oil lvl sensor. Also check the heat sensor switch..... The stator and and coils are less likely to be the prob. But I guess in ur case you hit the nail on the head by changing them out.

it is always best to test the systems before replacing parts, that way you know what to replace to repair the problem. a manual will help the troubleshooting
