  • 1998 c60 fuel problem and overheat

On 2000 pathfinder 1700t, intermitently will not develop more than 2500rpm (overheat protection not activated), checked fuel pickup screen, was clean, cleaned pilot jets, bottom one was dirty, checked fuel filter, was clean, still would not develop more than 2500rpm, removed siphon pump, replacing as a precaution as ball is very hard to pump, no sign of
water in fuel system, this happened once before about seven years ago while fishing the landcut, sent to yamaha shop, shop cleaned all three carbs, ran great thereafter, also overheats very easily if at idle too long, as while waiting to pull wakeboard, re-mounted motor 1.5" lower, still overheats quickly, any ideas about these two problems? This motor was on our first pathfinder, 1998 side console 1700t, did not have these particular problems on that hull, we need it working properly so we can spend more time fishing and wakeboarding, instead of wondering if it will run properly. Thanks.

    c60 fuel problem and overheat

I have the 97 c60. Noticed hotter water stream, and changed impeller in lower unit. No problem since. Once had cut outs before 3k rpm. Changed fuel filter with Napa brand, if that matters, and changed fuel hose from tank, including ball and clipon at motor.
