Ok, so I have a 4hp Mariner that was apparently made by Yamaha. I have recently replaced the impeller, spark plug, thermostat and cleaned the fuel tank and filter mesh by comparing the closest year match on a Yamaha parts diagram from the early 90's. I also disassembled the carburetor, which was dirty, and gave it a good cleaning due to starting problems. I did not install a carburetor kit. It does start now but have problems with idleing. My question is how much of a difference will a carburetor kit do in regards to the idle? I set the spark plug at .025, is this correct? I was also wondering if someone could tell me the what year it was made. It is a (Model 4M) 6EO S 073505. Thanks.
