  • Fuel delivery problem

Having a problem with my 02 40. It starts and idles fine but at wide open it dies out. When it dies, the primer bulb is no longer pressurized and you can squeeze the bulb but it won't fill back up at all, not even with air. What would cause this to happen? The motor is obviously pumping gas, it's sucking the primer bulb in but then dies when it runs out in the bulb. It's not a consistent problem, it did it when I got to the lake last night twice, but when I headed back to the launch it ran fine, although I was at slower speeds(Lower RPM). Any Ideas?

    Is the tank vented properly?
What kind of tank do you have?
You have a restriction in the line from the tank, lines, or bulb

It's a portable tank, and the vent was open. Maybe not enough, but I will check that. Could it be the fuel/water separator?

yes, and also could be the check valves in primer bulb or in the connectors or even the pick up tube in the tank if it has a filter on it.

Grab a spare tank and line and see
