Stalling

1989 130 hp V4 engine running well all year. The other day on the return trip motor stalled when trying to excellerate. Several tries and stalling, finally got it to run, ran well back to dock. At slip idle speed down, once again tried to give it more gas stalled. Any ideas

Check fuel filters, spark plugs, may need carbs cleaned.
