  • Engine Cover Gasket Came Off

The gasket that seals the genine cowl cover of my 2002 T9.9 came off and appears to have shrunk. If I insert one side of the gasket to the cover, the
opposite side pops out. Is a new gasket required, or can I somehow glue the
    current one in place?

The cowl gasket on my 90HP Yamaha is stapled in place with large stainless clips, which holds it tight even if it shrinks. Maybe you could remove your gasket and hang it somewhere with a heavy weight on it to try and stretch it back out, then mount it back on the cowl with some good weatherstrip adhesive or even some small stainless steel screws here and there to control the shrinkeage? If you hang it out in the bright sunlight maybe the heat helps it stretch back out? Just some thoughts!
