how old is my yamaha 9.9

I have recently bought a 4 stroke yamaha 9.9 with electrics. I have bought the manual that covers 1984-1999 but nothing seems to match. Does anyone know how to find out how old my engine is and where to get hold of a manual for it? The serial number is... BE6G9L400910
Also, the remote control console has the number of 701 on it and the numbers in the manual I've got start at 703. Does this mean mine is pre-1984?
