wiring

I have looked up the parts but have to ask the question. I have a 1992 saltwater series 250hp TXRQ that needs a wiring harness for the motor. Someone is telling me that a 1992 225hp will fit. Looking at the parts list the only harness numbers that seem to be interchangable are the 225hp and 250hp after 1995. Any help would be appreciated...
