9.9hp 4 stoke wont idle

Hi all, I bought a yam 9.9 4stroke for my 21' Norman. It has been stood for a couple of years and initially it wouldnt start but got it going every time on the key having changed the plugs. when I put the accellerator in the idle position to engage forward or reverse gear it stalls. any advice?

will,
If you motor set up for at least four months witout being run (and the fuel in the carb evaporated all out), then the carb is probably gummed/varnished up. You might consider a carb teardown/cleanout/overhaul.
