Is my precision blend working?

I just acquired a 40hp precision blend engine. It is around a 2000 model but it has less than 20 hours on it. I just want to be absolutely sure that the precision blend system is working on it. I don't see the oil flowing through the top when the engine is running. Is there another good way to see if its functioning correctly? thanks

Put 50:1 oil mix in gas tank until sure it is working, mark the oil level in oil tank and check oil level after running a tank of gas through it to see if is using oil.

thats what I was planning on doing, I just wasn't sure what blend I should use.. thanks for the help!
