  • 2005 Yamaha F150TXRD dropping cylinder... Please Help!!

I have a 2005 F150TXRD outboard w/ around 350 hours on a Sea Pro wa. It's been growling to get on plane and only tops out at just over 4000 rpm WOT (about 27 MPH). I replaced the plugs, lower unit oil and engine oil beginning of the season (plugs looked good). Yamaha tech support said it sounded like a fuel issue. So I replaced the 10 micron, primer bulb and first filter on the engine. Didn't help. Thought it might need the other two fuel filters replaced so I brought it into a dealer. He checked the the fuel pressure and said it was was fine, but that one of the cylinders was not firing. He put in a new coil and still no change. But he did notice that half of one of the plugs was getting black at the tip, so he replaced the plug, still no change. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

did he connect it up tp yds as it could be the shift switch ..........what it does is cause a miss fire as you can change gears but only above 1200 rpm other than that check your compression.

      Thanks, I'll check with him.

He did do a compression test and it was good. The next step was a leak down on the misfiring cylinder. I will pass on your rec, thanks! Gotta get back on the water....
