3.5 AC impellor

Hi, I have aquired a 3.5AC (Air Cooled) yamaha outboard. I have tried to drop the prop gear asssembly off by removing the nut on top and the two screws underneith and releasing the gear engage linkage, but i cant seem to seperate the two. I obviously dont want to use undue force! I am assuming there is a impeller inside as there appears to be a nice impeller shaped power bulge and two holes half way up that should be squirting water out!! I have tried to find an exploded diagram but to no avail!

Any help would be greatfully received!!
