  • Overheat damage

    Hello,

I recently purchased a boat with a 2007 70TLR. Yesterday when running the boat I got the overheat alarm and the motor dropped the RPMs automatically. I immediately stopped the motor and found a clump of weeds covering the water intake. After 10-15 minutes, the motor cooled, I restarted it and it ran fine back to the dock.

What type of damage might I expect from this type of overheating? Is there anything specific I should look for?

    Thank you for your input.

No damage would occur unless you keep running it with alarm activated.

You should be Ok...Pull the plugs and see if they have molten aluminum on any of them. That is what happened to one of my engines once.
