End play in prop OX-66?

'99 twin 225 OX-66 Saltwater Series...port side prop spins smoothly with NO sound (engines tilted up out of the water) while starboard side makes a faint clicking sound when spun by hand in neutral. I noticed also that I am able to pull the prop and shaft about an eighth of an inch out from the housing of the lower unit. The gear oil was checked on a survey a couple weeks ago prior to purchase. Thoughts?

Check the shift cable adjustment at engine shift linkage to make it is in neutral.
