I have a 1986 Bomber boat with a Yamaha 115 HP. Last week after a good rain storm it left me stranded. It started and ran fine. Then after 30 mins of fishing I had nothing. The dash did not light up, engine would not turn over and the trim would not work. Checked battery connections and all was ok. swapped batteries to the *****ing battery and nothing. Got a tow back to the boat ramp. Went and got tools and meter to look into it and turned the key over and it started just fine. I have checked the wires form the battery to the motor and they look good. All original Yamaha cables.

I pulled the main fuse that is on the motor housing. I opened the holder and there is no corrosion in the holder and the fuse looked clean too. I was not sure about the power running to the keyswitch on the con*****er and if it may be something there. But it did not make since that the trim did not work either.

Yeah I know. I do low voltage electrical work and if it isn't broke you can't fix it. Maybe I can replace the cables from the battery to the motor. I touched every inch of the cables that I could and they felt good. No insulation being hard or cracking. The terminals on the battery didn't look the best but I even changed batteries and nothing. Is there anything in the throttle control that could cause this. As I stated earlier it rained hard the night before. This boat is new to me and I don't want to get stranded again.

Well it happened again this weekend. This time however it stayed dead. got back to the shore and looked at the main 30amp fuse on the motor. It had buildup around it and the fuse holder looked the same way. Did not have a 30 amp so I cleaned the fuse good on both ends and the sides of the base. It had 2 stripes on each side of the metal base. Scrapped all I could out of the fuse holders. Put it all back together and it works great. Guess I did not look good enough at this the first time. So now, where is the best place to get a new in line fuse holder?
