What is the difference is the chock switch on the con*****er and the manual choke on the motor. I have a 1986 Yamaha 115 outboard. When I use the button choke I can not see anything on the engine move. With the manual choke I can see the rod pull and the choke activate. I know the switch works because while running if I activate it the engine stalls. Just wondering what the difference is.

its easier for the butterflies to close when air is being drawn into the motor/while running, than not running
    clean choke solenoid and linkage

So are you saying that the switch under the key should open the butterflies? I do not see the switch physically doing anything but if it is running and I activate the switch it will stall out. When I pull the manual choke on the motor I can see the parts moving.
