I have a 1988 25HP direct inject 2-stroke that starts & idles fine, but struggles when the throttle is increased - the engine bogs down & dies.
If I spray carb cleaner into the bottom carb, the engine bogs down. If I spray carb cleaner into the top carb, the engine RPMs increase and the engine becomes more responsive to changes in throttle position.
I can also keep the engine running by running with the choke on (butterfly about 1/2 way open).
Is this pointing to clogged jets and/or passage ways in the top carb? If so, is carb "cleaning" difficult for an average joe to perform?
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks.
