1990 Y150 ETXD Temp Alarm

Greetings,

Fantastic weather out here and the stripers are biting!
but
My twin 150's on LastCast is having an issue. STRB engine runs an hour at 4000 RPM and to idle no problem but sometimes when going from idle to plane high temp light on gauge comes on..dual LOUD alarms so back to idle, repeat, back to idle and then OK the rest of the day. Port engine is fine. Strb engine has new thermostats, pump kit, telltale is good and engine runs good even in alarm condition. I am thinking temp switch or wiring but don't know the failure mode. For example do open or shorted wires cause the alarm?

any cavitation, interruption of water flow can set off the alarm but start with changing out PRV

Went out last week and all good..
But I want to replace the PRV as you suggested.
One problem


What is a PRV?
