I am new to this forum,so here goes.I have a 2005 40 Yamaha 2 stroke.The t&t was leaking at the top were the lift rod comes out of the cylinder. The fluid appeared to be a redish color.I purchased Yamaha T&T fluid and filled the unit. the leak seems to have stopped.Any thoughts?

Could have just been a small piece of grit under the seal. Definitely keep an eye on it - if it continues to leak, take it in for warranty work.

Ken thanks for your reply.I noticed the Yamaha fluid was a gold or light color,not the same color as the fluid that leaked out.Comment

In my owners manual, Dexron 2 ATF is specified for the T/T fluid. Check your manual and see what is listed - you can use Yamaha's brand, but I am sure it is much more expensive. Dexron 2 is red.
