  • Red Loktite on head bolts/head cover bolts?

    Quick question for the experts.

The Yamaha manual says to use red loktite on the head and head cover bolts....As corroded as they things get in saltwater is this a correct method?
It would seem like never seize or grease would be a better idea.

Also if you re-torque at 10 hours how will the loktite affect the torquing process?.......I'm a little confused

Thanks in advance for your replies

I personally would never use red locktite on anything that I needed to take apart(at least that I couldn't heat with a torch first). That being said,I use antiseize on everything except connecting rod bolts and reed cages(and I use blue on them). Some people may disagree, and I believe they should go with what they think is best, but I do not like drilling out broken, frozen bolts.

Thanks guys. I had the same thoughts but wanted to ask for another opinion before I mess up.

        Never seize it will be.
