engine mounted oil tank

I have twin 1993 70hp 2-strokes. When the oil in the tanks get down to half full the oil alarms sound and rpms will not go above 2500. Is this normal when the oil gets to this level? Is this a safety limp mode? Thanks

Yes that is normal, if oil level is low the warning buzzer will sound and rpm's will be reduced to about 2000 rpm's.
