  • 2005 F250 Overheating

My 2005 F250 has been idle for 1 1/2 yrs. The alarm and indicator show the motor is overheating. The water pump does not seem to function. There is no stream from the proof hole.

The proof hole was clogged and now cleared. I've replaced the impeller and no change to condition. I've been advised the water pump assembly requires a spacer and collar Part #s 61A-45538-00 and 61A-45527-00 above the impeller. Neither part shows on the Lower Casing Drive 1 schematic. In addition, I am also advised the assmbly requires three very small washer type rings after the impeller and prior to the spacer and collar.

I am advised the pump will not function properly without these. Please help with any info before I remove the lower unit again.

The F250 doesn't use the preload collor and washers on top of impeller. If the old impeller was broken up then may be a piece of impeller blade lodged in water passage. Check thermostats, may be stuck closed.
