  • F 15 ESHB Please help!

I have had nothing but fuel issues with this motor. The engine constantly want to die out with the choke pushed in. I have changed the fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel filter. I have taken the carb off probably 10 times and soaked it along with cleaning the jet. I am running out of things to change. I have taken the fuel line off where it meets the carb and turned it over to see if the fuel pump was working, it seems fine. Anyone with suggestions????I am getting desperate here. My next step is to order a new fuel pump and diaphram just so I can eliminate that as the problem. I have a clear inline fuel filter, sometimes the filter runs dry, as if the pump is not able to suck the fuel from the tank. Everything else is new, that is why I want to change the pump and diaphram. When I disconnect the fuel line and pump the bulb, the fuel flows just fine. But when the engine is running with choke pulled out, I look into the clear fuel line in the gas tank and it does not seem to be sucking new fuel! Thanks in advance for any new insight!

Running with choke on is a sign of a restriction in carb passages or jets, sounds like still plugged passages in carb.

Can A fuel pump work but not pump the right pressure? The clear inline fuel filter keeps running dry as if it is not pumping fuel fron the gas tank. I pulled the fuel line right after the pump and fuel seems to pump out fine, I'm just wondering if it is not the right pressure. I checked the diaphram closely and did not see any holes or cracks. I took the carb apart completely again just to triple check everything. It all seem fine. It just does not want to stay running when I push the choke in! Thanks for any advice.

If fuel pump is not working properly then pumping the primer bulb will keep engine running.

          '04 15hp four stroke won't idle

I have the same problem w/ my F15 '04 model. All the carburator jets are clear and I have put a kit in it. The motor runs great @ anything above an idle. I can keep it running @ idle with a little choke, but it immediately quits when the choke is off. Could this be related to the timing?

Sounds like carbs are not yet clean enough or a vacumn leak.

Let me know how you make out with your 04. My carb could just about be used in a hospital. I have soaked, cleaned and recleaned over and over, not sure what else to do. I have lost hours working on this thing and it still won't run. When I first bought it the only problem I had was that it only ran with the choke pulled out a little. So thinking I could fix it, I cleaned the carb and now it is ten times worse. It runs( barely) with the choke all the way out, and immediately stalls if I just touch the choke. All directions point to the carb, but believe me, this this has been cleaned out. Anyone want a 15hp?

I am having the exact same problem with a 2001 felhz 15 hp 4strke. I dumped and blew out the tank, gas lines, in line filter, changed plugs and put on new bulb and fuel line. I have not changed the fuel pump. I had this problem last year and it was the carb. it was too far gonwe for repair and i bought a new one. it ran great all last fall. i winterized it now its the same problem, it will only run with choke full out or most recently not starting at all. Ionly paid $1000 for the motor and the skiffI cant just replace carbs every year for $250. Discount how difficult is it to try to clean it yourself. i'm ptretty handy but an engine newbie. Where do I begin I am also curious is it even possible for a carb to get gunked up after only three months?
