I need to know the right part for rectifier/regulator for adding on to my F8MLHH and to know where the wires go? If it has 4 wires ( 2 grn 1 blk 1 red ) I assume the 2 green go to the 2 vacant wire ends on my motor, blk to ground and red to battery positive ? Part supplied to me was 664-81970-61 by local dealer and I was told this part will ruin my battery at it is rectifier only, not rectifier/regulator?

Rectifier-Regulator is number 38 in this diagram Yamaha Outboard Parts 2006 and Later 4-stroke F8MLH 60R-1004281 OPTIONAL PARTS 1 Diagram Connect green wires to alternator on engine , connect a wire to red wire and to positive post on battery and install a inline fuse in it at battery. Connect black wire to engine ground and run a ground wire from engine block to negative post on battery.
