50TLR with 704 Remote Better Start Procedure

My 2006 50 TLR with a 704 Remote has always been sort of difficult to start and keep running (initial start of the day). This engine has the “Prime Start” feature- no normal Choke.

What I discovered, if I turn the key to Start and then as soon as it fires use the Free Accelerator Button (push in on the throttle lever) I can raise the RPM , similar to a Fast Idle lever on other engine types.

After a few minutes of around 1500 or so, reduce the throttle to the normal idle position.

All of the above just prevents the start/stop, start/stop sequence to get it going.

    Hope this helps someone.

By moving the lever depending on how far you move it it will disengage the factory set up of advancing the timing for start and warm up.
If you are having a problem the system there must be a blockage in the pilot or enrichment passages.
My 1999 C40TLRX fires up on the 2nd or 3rd 2 second turn of the key and does not die as i park the truck and come back to the ramp and then take off
