can't find "on engine" gas filter"

2 questions, i have a 1992 yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke

i changed my water seperator but was told there is an "in engine" gas filter to change too? where is it in my engine and where can i buy one, the people at west marine had no idea..... lol

also, does my engine have a so called "strainer" that i have read about, some type of filter in the gas lines that can get clogged??

just follow your fuel line where it enters motor>filter>fuel pump>carbs
