PTT removal

Can the PTT be removed from a 90HP with the motor still on the transom?
Did a search but found no answer to my specific problem.
I have the unit loose with the motor tilted all the way up held by the safety stops. I can't seem to work the ptt out of the engine brackets.

You would have take transom bracket loose from boat and loosen tilt tube nut enough to slide bracket over enough to remove power trim unit.
