I have a 2003 40 hp 4-stroke. It has run like a charm since I bought it in 2007. Stupidly, I ran it after sitting for 6 months with bad gas. After running clean gas through it and replacing the fouled plugs, it now runs erratically and often at 1/4 power when wide open. The plugs are again covered in oil, the top being the worst, middle not too bad and bottom plug pretty clean. Sometimes it runs great for 5-10 minutes then starts fading off only to lurch wide open again. Idling is rough and when putting it into gear it will stall immediately if your not ready to give it some gas. Any thoughts?
