We just got our 2010 Yamaha F70 and wanted to know how to attach our existing analog temperature gauge and tachometer to the motor. Do we have to buy a temperature sender and screw it into the block and then run an additional wire to the console, or is there a way to incorporate it into the existing harness - there was one pin of the 10 not used I think. There wasn't a huge amount of information in the owner's manual either. Is there a service manual available? Also, our tachometer is universal and has settings available behind the dial. I want to make sure it is set to the correct setting, the only way I can think to do this is to start the engine and let idle and see what the tach is reading (there is a setting for a four cylinder four stroke motor indicated on the back of the tach). What is the RPM range at idle assuming that it idles faster when cold. Thank you for all of your help.

You didn't say what make gauges you have, but the temp gauge will need a temp sensor installed on engine. If it's an aftermarket temp gauge then get the sender to match that gauge.
The tach needs to be set for 12 pole alternator.
You can order Yamaha service manual at www.yamaha-motor.com

Thank you for the information. The tach setting worked perfectly. The tach is a Faria the other gauges are tough to tell. I will have to look closer and see if I can find out.
