I have a 96 C85 that I bought used. I have found that the previous owner did some "rigging" of the head cover bolt hole and need to fix the issue. It looks like they stripped the bolt thread, then drill it out and put a wood screw in its place. When I removed the screw, the bolt hole cracked/broke (wall to thin).
So, the question is can I fill this in, reshape the new solid, then drill and tap the hole? If so, what material is the head made of? The pic below shows the bolt/head cover in question.
