During start,my engine make strange noise from the mid section,my local mechanic told me that was crankshaft problem and need to be replace.I'm wondering maybe the noise was coming from the lower casing.Is it possible to remove the lower casing and start the engine for a few second just to confirm the problem?maybe without the lower casing the noise will be missing and it is confirm for me to cx the lower casing.Any ideas?

Yes you can on a two stroke engine just connect water hose to water tube in mid housing to keep engine cool. The exhaust may be so loud that you wouldn't be able to hear much.
