I am changing out my original digital guages to analogs and can't match the wires up. My two old gauges were, 1. speed, fuel, battery, etc. 2. tach, oil level, temp, etc. I do not care about having trim or hour meters for the new set up. The new analogs are, 1. speed 2.tach, oil, temp 3. battery 4.fuel. I've already cut holes so there is no going back. Need to know 1. if I'm stupid to try and do this myself 2. If no, then how to match the new vs. old colors and what about the buzzer?

Are the new gauges Yamaha or aftermarket gauges? What year and model motor do you have?

That should be just matching wire colors, green to green, yellow to yellow, black to black, and blue to blue. The square off white color connector that was on tach should plug into same connector on analog tach, if new tach has the oil lights(if you have the Pro Series tach then will need adapter 6Y5-81950-02-00 to make warning lights work). If tach doesn't have warning lights then square connector is not needed.

coming out from new analog tach are 1. brown w black spots 2. red w black spots 3.yellow w red spots. Hanging out of plug from gauge but not coming out of gauge is pink w red spots. Have nothhing like that coming from motor. Also have three additional single wires coming out of analog gauge which are G, Y & Blue[ might be black ] cant recall. Going to motor B,G,P & O, Male 4 prong. G&G w red stripe female plug

The wires with bullet connectors, green, yellow, black and blue connect to wires coming from key switch with bullet connectors and should be same colors. The square connector on tach should plug into square connector on harness coming from engine, wire colors wont match but connector should plug in.Last edited by boats.net; 05-29-2010, 07:42 PM.
