I bought a Yamaha 9.9HP electric start 4stroke motor along with a small boat that came as a package, then I changed to a bigger boat and found that the 9.9HP just wasn't powerful enough. I needed a 15HP to do the job but to trade in my motor for the bigger one was going cost a lot so another solution had to be found , and this is it. All the parts on the 9.9 are identical to the 15 with 2 exceptions.
The propeller which I had to change anyway cause I hit a rock.

The carburetor
I bought a Carburetor Assembly for a 15HP from a Yamaha Agent brand new for £161 plus tax and replaced the old one with it. (You must buy the complete assembly, no choice) The motor runs far smother and idles so quiet and has instant response when the throttle is whacked open. The difference in power is a 50% increase but feels like more. The entire throttle twist-grip range can now be used, not just the first half. It is clear this engine is a 15HP detuned to a 9.9 to comply with user age restrictions and other user venue constraints and HP limits.
